WHITE WINE IS AS RICH AS HISTORY.

Full-bodied Chardonnay, move over. There’s a new wine in town. Tempi Antichi is a rich white wine with notes of peach, melon, and a little bit of spice, a signature move of Pinot Gris when it comes from Hungary, the homeplace of Tempi Antichi and one of the oldest winemaking regions in the world.

Pinot Gris is originally known as Pinot Grigio, and its French name is a nod to the weighty mouthfeel, ripe fruit flavors, and touch of spice it can show when made in other regions. Look for aromas of cinnamon, ginger, or clove on the finish.

DON’T CALL IT A COMEBACK.

Hungarian wine has been here for years, you just may not have heard of it. Medieval Europe fell head over heels with the decadent, often spicy white wines of Hungary. Nobility requested this rich white wine regularly, and alchemists tried and tried to figure out how to literally extract “gold” they believed was contained inside. Years of political strife and war set winemakers way back, and it wasn’t until the 2000’s that they started finally being able to put bangers like Tempi Antichi out again.

HOW TO PAIR TEMPI ANTICHI.

Pairing food and wine can be a little confusing but for Tempi Antichi, choose dishes that are creamy and rich, with a little bit of spice if you dare. We love it with coconut curry, saffron and mussels risotto, creamy herb-baked chicken, and pumpkin penne.
