Wine lovers like us are always on the lookout for something new and unique, but the classics never go out of style. South African Chenin Blanc is tried and true, a wine that embodies centuries of experience resulting in a trademark style. Grown in the famous Western Cape region, the grapes ripen slowly and fully in the vivid sunlight and retain their lovely aromatics from the cooling, briny breezes of the Atlantic Ocean.

Chenin Blanc is South Africa's signature grape variety, and Briny Breeze is very typical of the region's style. Light bodied yet surprisingly impactful on the palate, it’s green apple, verbena and honeysuckle core lead to a laser-focused, detailed finish.

Chenin Blanc is the most famous white wine of South Africa, and this legendary variety embodies the decades of experimentation, improvement and fine-tuning by the country’s winemakers, resulting in a signature style found nowhere else in the world. The Western Cape appellation, in the south-west of the country, is classic Chenin Blanc terroir, with cool temperatures during the growing season and sandy, pebbly soils that slow ripening and keep alcohol levels down. There is no doubt about it – South Africa is one of the world’s great wine producing countries, and wines like Briny Breeze are like a liquid postcard of what the country does best – great Chenin Blanc.

While its refreshing acidity and voluptuous fruit character make Briny Breeze Chenin Blanc a natural fit for poolside chilling, cold temperatures are also kept at bay by it’s exotic character and sensual mouthfeel – a taste of summer even in the dead of winter. Enjoy it with seafood and charcuterie...but especially with a simple roast chicken in a cream sauce.
